Tuesday, 10 december 2019

The Belem Foundation, which the Caisses d’Epargne have been supporting since 1979, recently announced the 2020 navigation program for the last surviving French three-masted sailing vessel dating from the 19th century.

On December 7, 2019, at the opening of the Paris Boat Show, Porte de Versailles (Paris), visitors were able to discover the full list of the Belem’s destinations and stopovers in 2020. For seven months starting on April 1st, the Belem will be sailing from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean via Madeira. A host of new destinations will take the three-masted ship to the heart of the biggest sailboat gatherings of the year, including Arcachon, Bordeaux, Brest, Dunkirk, Amsterdam, and Bremerhaven. These three-to-eight day stays will allow visitors to learn about sailing as it was practiced in the 19th century. The large number of scheduled stopovers will also be an opportunity for the public to discover this tall ship included on the French historical heritage list.
