After a hard-fought match against Montenegro, the French team clawed their way back to qualify for the Eurobasket 2022 tournament.
The French team’s less-than-convincing first half (31-37 at the break) gave way to a stunning comeback when the match resumed! With nowhere left to go but up, Les Bleus started to claw their way back by calling on the skills of the Dijon duo Axel Julien (6 points) and Alexandre Chassang (11 points 7 rebounds). Thomas Heurtel (16 points), who was celebrating his 75th selection after several months of absence, was also largely instrumental in enabling the French to turn the match around in their favor. After this courageous victory – which also means qualification for Euro 2022 – the French team, which was playing without its NBA players or EuroLeague members, now has its eyes fixed on THE competition of the year: the Tokyo Olympics in 5 months’ time.
