Groupe BPCE is implementing a concrete initiative to protect local natural ecosystems, as part of the strategic project VISION 2030. The goal is to contribute to the protection of 30 local ecosystems related to water and forests by the end of 2026.
France, the second largest maritime power in the world and the fourth largest forest power in Europe, hosts invaluable natural wealth that needs protection. This is why, within the Groupe BPCE, cooperative and territorial by nature, we have chosen to mobilize collectively through a strong and concrete approach in favor of biodiversity aimed at protecting local natural ecosystems.
30 natural ecosystems to be protected by the end of 2026 A VISION 2030 strategic goal
Each project is part of an impact framework based on the ecosystem services method defined for this initiative. Then, the scientific committee examines the compliance of each proposed project. It is composed of experts and national organizations specialized in issues related to biodiversity, water, and forests. As of mid-September 2025, 23 projects for the preservation of natural ecosystems have already been validated by the scientific committee. Among the areas of action of the projects are the planting of tree species more resistant to climate change, the fight against invasive aquatic species, and the restoration of mangroves and seagrass beds.
