Our athletes share their secrets: podcast with Marie-Amélie Le Fur, para-athlete

Marie-Amélie Le Fur, supported by the Caisse d’Epargne Loire-Centre via the Performance Pact Foundation, answered the questions put to her when she took part in one of the challenges staged by the Paris 2024 Club.

The Paris 2024 Club opened its doors to the general public at the end of July. The aim of this new community, set up by the Organizing Committee of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is to bring together French people wanting to share in the adventure of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. A series of challenges are being staged throughout the summer to allow members of the public to measure themselves against the greatest French athletes.
 
A number of these well-known athletes are supported by the companies belonging to Groupe BPCE, a Premium Partner of the Paris 2024 Games, within the framework of the support and assistance program set up in association with the Performance Pact Foundation.
 
We are devoting a series of podcasts to these athletes to allow the general public to get to know them better, providing an opportunity to learn more about their upcoming sporting events and how they view the 2024 Paris Games. 
 
In this second episode, we interviewed Marie-Amélie Le Fur, sponsored by the Caisse d’Epargne Loire-Centre via the Performance Pact Foundation.

What Marie Amélie told us:

« I’m 32 years old and have been an athlete since the age of 6. After losing a leg in a scooter accident, I had the good fortune of being part of a particularly favorable ecosystem that gave me the option of rebuilding myself through sport. 
This has enabled me to take part in the Paralympic Games three times, and I’ve had the support of two great coaches… We had so much fun in 2016 that we decided to continue preparing for the competitions in Tokyo. 
In my professional life, I work for the EDF utility company but I’m currently on secondment in my capacity as president of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee.
I’ve been working with the Caisse d’Epargne Loire Centre for several years now, and this will continue until 2021. It’s the kind of partnership I like, based on person-to-person relations, on the exchange of skills. It allows the bank to use the athlete’s image but also to draw on his or her personal experience in the management of their project. Personally, I also value the moments of sharing, of meeting new collaborators, which also allows me to acquire additional skills for my future professional life.

A few days ago, we took part in the 3rd challenge staged by the Paris 2024 Club, a community encouraging members of the general public to measure themselves against Olympic and Paralympic champions. We played against 12 club members, which was a very rewarding human experience with some very fine shared moments… For us, these challenges are important because they allow the general public to discover what the daily lives of high-level athletes are like, what the Paralympic movement is all about…

Paris 2024 is a wonderful project because these Olympic Games will be important for France and the French people in general, for athletes, and for sports fans. We want these Games to be wonderful for disabled athletes. We also want these Olympics to leave a lasting legacy so that access to sport for people with disabilities evolves and becomes an everyday reality.»
