In a context marked by climate importance, the “Purchasing 2030” project initiated by the BPCE Group stands out as a flagship initiative aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of purchases in the banking and insurance sectors.
This consortium, which brings together about thirty stakeholders, including seven French banks and insurance companies, twelve suppliers, and four independent experts, aims to address the issue of decarbonizing purchases, which is the main contributor to carbon emissions, excluding financed emissions.
In a collaborative approach, the BPCE Group, in partnership with Climate House, has organized three workshops to identify decarbonization levers and establish common calculation methodologies.
Four working groups have been created around key themes :
Each of these groups is focusing on concrete solutions to reduce the environmental impact of their respective activities.
The results of the work are expected to be presented in October 2025 at the Climate House premises. This will be an opportunity to unveil an open-source deliverable, making the impact accessible to all. This approach aims to enable other players in the sector to take up the work carried out, thus promoting the dissemination of best practices and established methodologies.
The BPCE Group places the decarbonization of purchases at the heart of its sector priorities and commits, through this consortium, to promote a sustainable transformation of purchasing practices in the banking and insurance sectors.
