The Fédération Nationale des Caisses d’Epargne promotes solidarity between the generations

Friday, 21 may 2021

The Fédération Nationale des Caisses d’Epargne (FNCE) recently signed a partnership agreement with the #1cabasPour1étudiant association (“1 shopping bag for 1 student”) to promote the national rollout of its campaign to provide material and psychological assistance to students affected by the Covid crisis.

The operation was launched in Lyon by the Caisse d’Epargne Rhône Alpes (CERA). The #1cabasPour1étudiant operation uses the 1cabasPour1é platform to bring together students, who often find themselves completely isolated, with sponsors living in the same neighborhood. This operation, based on the principle of local solidarity, goes well beyond providing financial support as such: the shopping bag – which is used for its symbolic value – may, of course, contain food, anti-Covid items (face masks/hand sanitizer), or personal hygiene products but it may also contain books, an invitation for a chat on the phone, to go for a walk together or to share a meal, assistance with administrative formalities, or the offer of an internship.

By mid-April, more than 1,000 students had already been paired up with more than 1,000 families. With this partnership, the FNCE intends to publicize and promote the association’s activities through the 15 regional Caisses d’Epargne and to recruit new sponsors from among their cooperative shareholders/customers and directors. It also wants to take advantage of this initiative to encourage local solidarity actions in favor of students affected by the crisis.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the Caisses d’Epargne have been extremely active in supporting students, apprentices and young people aged 18 or more during this difficult period. They have launched a large number of support initiatives in their favor, ranging from emergency student microcredit solutions or actions taken to combat food insecurity to the hiring of apprentices and the creation of new jobs.
