The Transat Jacques Vabre: they’re off and away!

Monday, 8 november 2021

Armel le Cléac’h and Kevin Escoffier crossed the starting line on Sunday, November 7 at 1:27 pm with the 78 other boats competing in this 15th Transat Jacques Vabre yachting race.

After reaching the clearing buoy at Etretat, the two sailors set their prows south towards Martinique, the arrival and final destination of the first transatlantic race for the Maxi Banque Populaire XI maxi-trimaran.

The excellent weather conditions and strong wind prevailing at the start of the race allowed the maxi-trimaran to reveal all its potential, to fly over the waves and quickly reach high speeds in front of a crowd massed on the cliffs of Normandy’s Alabaster Coast.
