By beating Brazil (89-72) at the Olympic Qualification Tournament (OQT) played in Bourges in central France last Saturday, the French women’s team has won its place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games!

his is the 4th time in the history of the French women’s basketball team that they will be competing in the Olympics after Sydney in 2000 (when they came 5th), London in 2012 (4th) and Rio in 2016. The players coached by Valérie Garnier will consequently be joining the French men’s team under Vincent Collet, who are already qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after winning a bronze medal at the World Cup in China last summer.

The Caisse d’Epargne, a partner of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) and the principal supporter of the women’s team for the past six years, extends its warm congratulations to the players of the French team, true “women of talent” as announced by the #FemmesDeTalent hashtag.
Now it’s time for the French 3×3 basketball teams, who will be taking part in the OQT staged in Bangalore (India) from March 18 to 22, to win their ticket to Tokyo. “We all share the same dream that the great family of French basketball will leaving for Tokyo together,” said Jean-Pierre Siutat, President of the French Basketball Federation.
