The Caisse d’Epargne Loire Drôme Ardèche and the Caisse d’Epargne Rhône Alpes are helping to create of a vacation and training center capable of welcoming the 7,000 young people belonging to the Sport dans la Ville (Sport in the City) association.
The first foundation stone of this exceptional living/learning center located in the heart of the Drôme Provençale region was laid on June 11 earlier this year. Sport dans la Ville, an association that helps young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods to achieve success through sport, and its partners are clear about their objectives: to enable the young people staying at the center to enjoy a vacation (sometimes for the very first time), to discover nature, to practice sports, and to learn about the advantages of a healthy diet… but also to receive support in gaining access to training – and, ultimately, to employment – in the fields of leisure activities, hospitality, hotel and restaurant work.
Strong involvement of the Caisses d’Epargne
The Caisse d’Epargne Loire Drôme Ardèche and Caisse d’Epargne Rhône Alpes are local players boasting deep roots in their respective regions and assuming positions at the very heart of the social challenges of the future. As natural supporters of Sport dans la Ville, the two Caisses d’Epargne will help finance the overall renovation of the center. This €6 million project is scheduled to open to the public in June 2022.
At the national level, and within the framework of its Pacte Utile (Useful Pact), the Caisse d’Epargne will also support the association in the renovation of the 3×3 basketball court. This initiative will be accompanied by a creative competition in which young talents from Sport dans la Ville are invited to imagine the design of the court. A panel comprised of professionals – artists, sportsmen/women, representatives of Sport dans la Ville and the Caisse d’Epargne, etc. – will then shortlist 5 entries and invite the general public to vote via the social networks for the winning project. Finally, an artist will be consulted to determine the best position for the decor in this exceptional natural setting (on the ground, on a fresco on the fence, etc.) and will be appointed to supervise the young people during the completion of the project.
Sport: a lever for transformation
Enhancing the practice of sport to make it a lever for the transformation of society is a major ambition of Groupe BPCE, its brands and its companies. Within the framework of the partnership with Paris 2024 and in pursuit of the desire to make an active contribution to the legacy of the Olympic Games, other Group companies are mobilized on a daily basis alongside Sport dans la Ville to make social inclusion via sport a reality at a local and regional level.
