Wednesday, 23 december 2020

The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed full parity between male and female athletes, and the inclusion of eight new disciplines and four new sports for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Full Pari(s)ty! For the first time in the history of the Olympic movement, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be the very first Games to have reached the goal of full parity, with as many female as male athletes among the 10,500 athletes qualified to compete.

Following the proposals made by the international federations, the IOC has unveiled the eight new events to be included in the sports program of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, replacing the eight events removed from the current program. The IOC also validated the integration of four new sports resolutely focused on young people: breakdancing, rock-climbing, skateboarding, and surfing.

Groupe BPCE, a Premium Partner of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is fully committed to this gender parity initiative with its support for a group of 104 athletes*, including 67 from the Performance Pact, the support mechanism set up in the Group’s companies, of which 44% are women.

The Group is also actively contributing to the emergence of these four new creative and spectacular sports by supporting Sarah Bouyahyaoui (by the Caisse d’Epargne Bourgogne Franche Comté) and Carlota Dubek (by the Caisse d’Epargne CEPAC) in breakdancing; Anouk Jaubert (by the Caisse d’Epargne Loire Drôme Ardèche) in rock-climbing; Charlotte Hym (by the Caisse d’Epargne Ile-de-France) in skateboarding, and Anaïs-Mai Desjardins (by the Banque Populaire du Nord) in kitesurfing.
