Paris 2024: the Paralympic Games given pride of place in the heart of Paris

Friday, 28 october 2022

The Paris 2024 Organizing Committee has announced its decision to stage the Paralympic Games ceremony in the heart of the capital.

For the very first time, the 4,400 Paralympic athletes from 184 delegations will parade close to the public, on the Place de la Concorde at the foot of the Champs-Elysées.  The event will include the construction of 4 stages, an amazing public spectacle, unique artistic performances, and an expected total of 65,000 spectators for an unprecedented focus on sport, Paralympic values and culture.
For a more inclusive society
In line with the Organizing Committee’s ambition to organize the most inclusive Games possible and to change the way people view disability, other emblematic sites in the capital – from the Eiffel Tower to the Château de Versailles gardens and the Grand Palais exhibition hall – will host various events during the 11 days of competitions. This will provide an opportunity for everyone, whether disabled or not, to witness the exceptional performances of the Paralympic athletes in magnificent settings.
