As the principal sponsor of the Petit Palais art museum, Groupe BPCE was represented alongside teams from the Paris Musées administrative body and Petit Palais for the official launch of work to restore the peristyle and fresco of this historic monument. This large-scale initiative, which was made possible thanks to support provided by the Group, is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2026.

In 2023, Groupe BPCE became a major patron of the Paris Musées administrative body and the principal sponsor of the Petit Palais art museum. On this occasion, Groupe BPCE committed to three major projects: to finance the restoration of the peristyle and fresco adorning this colonnaded gallery, to contribute to enhancing the display of the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions, and to support the projects related to the Climate Plan drawn up by the Petit Palais. After welcoming more than 28,000 guests from the Group and its companies during the Olympic & Paralympic Games Paris 2024, the Petit Palais is now beginning to write a new chapter in its history of collaboration with the Group: the restoration of the peristyle.

A real collective challenge

The restoration of the peristyle and its “The Seasons and the Days” fresco represents a collective challenge for a historic project that will bring together a multidisciplinary team including many skilled craftsmen, heritage restorers and artisans, and, in particular, specialists in the art of fresco painting and ornamental sculpture. Following a comprehensive, responsible, and innovative restoration process (and something never attempted since its creation in 1910), this masterpiece by the painter Paul Baudoüin – spanning a total of more than 1,000 square meters – will be returned to all its original splendor.

Through this initiative, Groupe BPCE is realizing its ambition to engage in long-term philanthropic action and to leave a lasting legacy after the Paris 2024 Games. It is therefore a source of pride for Groupe BPCE to be associated with this major restoration project at the Petit Palais. By supporting this initiative and giving expression to the same spirit that inspired the restoration of Notre Dame cathedral, Groupe BPCE is demonstrating its deep commitment to our architectural and artistic heritage and to the efforts made to preserve it.
