The French 470 class (double-handed dinghy) teams have pulled off a superb dual victory! Camille Lecointre and Aloïse Retornaz, both from Brest, and the men’s duo Kevin Peponnet and Jérémie Mion, won gold in the European Championships held recently in Vilamoura, Portugal.
The world’s elite 470 class sailors (double-handed dinghies) met for their final contest in this last international competition before setting off for Tokyo… and the French teams left an indelible mark on the competition!
Camille Lecointre, bronze medalist in Rio in 2016, and her teammate Aloïse Retornaz who were named ‘sailors of the year 2019’ offered themselves a second European crown after their victory in 2019. The same euphoria was tangible in the French men’s team, world champions in 2018, with the gold medal-winning duo Kevin Peponnet and Jérémie Mion, supported by Banque Populaire Méditerranée and ranked first in Europe.
