On the court, after a high-quality first half that saw the French side rattle the formidable Team USA, the Americans’ physical strength and offensive efficiency gradually began to turn the tide. The rest of the game allowed the United States to pull away, sealing an American victory with a final score of 97–79. With this runner-up title, Les Bleues offer French women’s basketball a second World Cup medal, 73 years after bringing home the bronze medal in 1953.
