The French women’s team has captured Olympic gold, claiming the only title they needed to complete their list of achievements!
Following in the footsteps of their male counterparts yesterday, the players of the French women’s handball team* were crowned Olympic champions after beating the Russians. In control of the match from start to finish, the French women ended the tournament in the most satisfying manner. Supporters will remember how the competition got off to a bad start for the French with only one victory in the first four games. Three matches later – and three victories against the Brazilian, Dutch (the reigning world champions) and Swedish teams – they were back in the final, five years after Rio.
Thanks to their intense focus from the very start, the French team played at a high level throughout the final, enabling them to claim their gold medal and leave Tokyo with the only title still missing from their list of achievements. Magic!
In its capacity as a partner of the French Handball Federation, the Caisse d’Epargne is proud to have accompanied the French women’s team in their fantastic sporting adventure for more than six years. It is also proud to have shared its commitment and active involvement in this sport with all handball enthusiasts, be they amateurs, professionals… or exceptional champions!
We look forward to seeing them again in 3 years’ time for a new Olympic adventure in Paris 2024.
