Activities

Created following the Caisses d’Epargne’s adoption of a cooperative status in 1999, the Fédération Nationale des Caisses d’Epargne (FNCE, the National Federation of the Caisses d’Epargne) is the institution that represents, and gives voice to, the 15 regional Caisses d’Epargne, their 4.5 million customer/cooperative shareholders(1) and the 2,350(1) local savings company administrators.

In accordance with its statutory missions, the Federation supports the Caisses d’Epargne on matters of corporate governance, cooperative development, and corporate social & environmental responsibility (CSR), and highlights the involvement of the savings banks in local and regional France.

Its principal assignments are:

  • To develop the cooperative business model of the Caisses d’Epargne,
  • To help define the strategic orientations of the Caisses d’Epargne network,
  • To promote discussions about strategy within the individual Caisses d’Epargne,
  • To develop and coordinate high-quality relations with the customer/cooperative shareholders,
  • To support and train the representatives elected by the cooperative shareholders,
  • To define, coordinate, and promote the social responsibility actions of the Caisses d’Epargne,
  • To represent and promote the interests of the Caisses d’Epargne,
  • To contribute to the cooperation of the French Caisses d’Epargne with foreign institutions of a similar nature.

Sport & Patronage

Recognized as one of the leaders of corporate philanthropy in France, the Caisses d’Epargne enjoy strong roots in, and are firmly engaged in solidarity with, the local associative fabric. In 2025, they allocated a total of €23.2 million to support 1,257 local projects, the result of an active partnership and sponsorship policy that the Caisses d’Epargne intend to maintain and expand with local and national partners.

In sport, the Caisses d’Epargne renewed their four‑year partnership with the French Handball Federation and announced that, under the Pacte Utile (Useful Pact) program, they had renovated more than 120 sports grounds across the country. This scheme, which improves access to spaces that encourage people to take up sporting activities, was recognized by the Sport & Citizenship think tank, which awarded it the silver ‘Social Impact of Sport’ label.
