José Bardaji started his career at Dares before moving to the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee). In 2008, he joined the Directorate General of the French Treasury as Deputy Head of the France Diagnostics & Forecasts Office, then Deputy Head of the Labor Market Office. In 2011, he was appointed Head of the International Diagnostics & Forecasts Office.
In 2013, he was made Head of the Macroeconomic Studies Division at Insee, before becoming Director of Statistics and Economic Research at France Assureurs in 2015. Since May 2025, under the Finance business unit led by Jérôme Terpereau, José Bardaji has been Director of Research & Forecasting at Groupe BPCE, where he oversees all research carried out by the economists in his department, published under the banner ‘BPCE L’Observatoire.
