Clarisse Crémer embarks upon her first round-the-world race

Friday, 6 november 2020

Three months of single-handed yacht racing have now begun! On Sunday, November 8, Clarisse Crémer will be setting sail from Les Sables-d’Olonne aboard the IMOCA-class Banque Populaire X… and Groupe BPCE will be with her all the way.

Clarisse will be setting sail this Sunday at 1:02 pm on her first race around the world. In what is clearly an unprecedented situation, the start of the race – which typically attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators – will be held without the usual crowds of enthusiasts.

But when she glides away from the pier at 8:51 a.m. on board the Mono Banque Populaire X and begins to move up the legendary channel of Les Sables d’Olonne, Clarisse will know she can count on the support of hundreds of thousands of people: all the employees of Groupe BPCE, the legions of fans on social networks and, of course, all her family and friends. All these people have promised her their support and vowed to put wind in her sails to enable her to succeed in this round-the-world challenge.

And discover the dual portrait of Clarisse, the Banque Populaire skipper, and Isabelle Joschke at the helm of the yacht bearing the colors of the MACSF mutual insurance company in a program broadcast yesterday, November 5, on the France 2 TV channel’s 8 o’clock evening news. In just a few minutes, this portrait offers an opportunity to get to know two of the 6 female sailors who will be setting off, together with 31 other competitors, to pit their skills in this legendary ocean race.

Throughout the competition, share the day-to-day thrills of Clarisse’s round-the-world race on the website www.voile.banquepopulaire.fr.
