Incredible performances and unwavering popular enthusiasm marked these 28 days of competition. Groupe BPCE and its companies are proud to have helped make this spectacular, unforgettable event such a great success.

There was the magic of the Olympic Games, and then the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games offered us a spellbinding sequel. For more than a month, we enjoyed an uninterrupted succession of moments filled with joy, pride and celebration. The popular enthusiasm, which began with the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on July 28, continued right up to the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games on September 8: 12 million tickets sold or allocated (9.5 million for the Olympics, 2.4 million for the Paralympics), 7million visitors in the Olympic and Paralympic venues, 60 million television viewers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and 40 million for the Paralympic Games. An unprecedented success that went far beyond all expectations!

With a total of 139 medals for the French national team, the performances achieved by our Olympic and Paralympic athletes command respect and admiration. A big ‘well done’ to these high-flying sportsmen and sportswomen, especially those supported by our companies who proved to be particularly brilliant.

As the first Premium Partner to have committed to this exceptional adventure five years ago, Groupe BPCE is particularly proud to have helped make these unparalleled Games such a resounding success. The enthusiasm of the general public, the day-to-day involvement of all the Group’s companies, the presence of our customers and cooperative shareholders, and the commitment of our employees made up the ingredients of this collective success.

“I’m the first Tahitian to win an Olympic medal, and I’m so proud to have represented France and Tahiti… and to have done it on my home turf, which represented an immense source of additional pressure,” says Kauli Vaast, an athlete supported by the Caisse d’Epargne Ile-de-France and Banque de Tahiti who won a gold medal in surfing.

“I’ve never seen such an atmosphere, your support truly inspired us! And we’re going to be going for lots of medals thanks to you,” emphasized Marie Patouillet, a two-time track para cycling medalist (gold and bronze) supported by BPCE Financement.

“My first goal was to win a medal and my second was to show strength for all the women and girls of Afghanistan. I knew I was going to go home with a medal, and today, here it is!” explained Zakia Khudadadi, bronze medalist in para taekwondo for the Paralympic Refugee Team, and supported by Crédit Coopératif via the Performance Pact.

For almost a month and a half, we’ve all been singing, jumping, shouting, cheering and moved to tears, just like our 10,000 employees committed to celebrating Paris 2024 and contributing to the success of the Olympic & Paralympic Games Paris 2024. Fortunately, it’s not over yet. The Group is committed to helping France become a more sporting, inclusive and environmentally-friendly nation. We’re going to step up this commitment to become a go-to player in the sports economy and truly leave our mark beyond Paris 2024.
