In Paris, Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking’s (Natixis CIB) Green Summit 2026 brought together leaders and experts around one question: how to pursue the environmental transition in the face of geopolitical tensions, technological transformations, and resource constraints? The opening plenary session examined the role of financing and planning in reconciling short-term adaptation with long-term objectives.
This event put several interrelated issues into perspective: energy security, access to water, the development of artificial intelligence, industrial competitiveness, and decarbonization. The discussions highlighted the importance of considering these factors together in investment decisions.
During the opening discussions with Orith Azoulay, Global Head of Green and Sustainable Finance at Natixis CIB, and Mohamed Kallala, Co-Head of Natixis CIB and member of the Senior Management Committee, the debates focused on the allocation of financing, particularly for digital infrastructure, the energy transition, and industrial transformation.
One of the key takeaways is the need to examine the dependencies between these investments. The development of digital infrastructure, for example, requires reliable energy and water supplies, as well as appropriate cybersecurity systems.
From this perspective, financial support consists of helping companies better understand their risks and organize their investments.
Environmental security was another central theme. This concept refers to the ability to preserve access to essential resources when their availability becomes uncertain or limited.
Discussions notably addressed reducing water leaks, reusing wastewater, and diversifying energy sources. These approaches can help reduce certain dependencies and strengthen business continuity.
However, they require infrastructure, investment, and coordination over the long term. The challenge is therefore to anticipate needs rather than waiting for a crisis to act.

During the various discussions, the importance of planning in an unstable context was also highlighted. It is not about predicting every development, but about defining priorities that are clear enough to guide decisions and allow for their adaptation.
A cross-cutting takeaway emerged: responding to immediate constraints without losing sight of structural transformations. Financing, resource management, and planning must be considered together to build corporate resilience.
