Sailing: France triumphs in the Paris 2024 Test Event

After 8 days competing in the Marseille marina, the French Sailing Team claimed an exceptional haul of medals: 4 gold and 1 silver, making a total of 5 in all!
The French sailing team put up a magnificent performance on the waters south of France’s 2nd largest city during this unique Paris 2024 Sailing Test Event: a collective success crowned by 5 medals – 4 of them gold! – that keeps our hopes high for 2024.
Philippe Mourniac, the director of the French national team, had made this event the season’s principal objective with the undisguised determination to “make a strong impression.” The fact of ending up as the No.1 nation with these 5 medals ahead of the Dutch (3 gold medals) and the Italians (3 medals: 1 gold and 2 bronze), the French competitors fully lived up to expectations.
Results:
- Kitefoil: Lauriane Nolot and Axel Mazella, supported by Banque Populaire Méditerranée, dominated the competition, each taking a gold medal.
- Double-handed dinghy – 470: the mixed crew comprising Camille Lecointre and Jérémie Mion, supported by BRED Banque Populaire, claimed the 3rd gold medal for the French team.
- Men’s IQFoil windsurfing: an exceptional week for Nicolas Goyard, supported by Banque Populaire Méditerranée, who won the 4th gold medal.
- Men’s 2-handed skiff – 49er: a commanding final for the 2-man crew comprised of Clément Péquin and Erwan Fischer, who concluded the competition with a fine silver medal.
