After their amazing performance at the Olympic & Paralympic Games, the French triathletes supported by Groupe BPCE companies continue their winning streak at the European Championships in Vichy.
The picture left a lasting impression, that of Jules Ribstein holding the Paralympic marathon finish banner in his outstretched arms on the Alexandre III bridge in Paris! The conquering spirit of this Strasbourg-born para athlete competing in the PTS2 category and supported by Caisse d’Epargne Grand Est Europe, has lost none of its intensity since Paris 2024 if we can judge from the similar victory he pulled off in the European para triathlon championships in Vichy. This high-flying repeat performance further consolidates his unchallenged domination of the PTS2 category, in which he has been competing since a motorcycle accident in 2008 left him with his left leg amputated below the femur. Jules Ribstein boasts a simply staggering list of achievements: he is now a four-time world champion, three-time European champion, and Olympic triathlon champion!
The same repeat performance for the two “athlete/guide” pairs who so captivated the public with their life stories at the Paralympic Games Paris 2024. The duo comprised of Thibaut Rigaudeau, supported by the Banque Populaire Foundation and Banque Populaire Rives de Paris, and his guide Cyril Viennot took silver in PTVI, the same medal as in Paris this summer. Annouck Curzillat, supported by the Caisse d’Epargne Rhône Alpes, and Julie Marano, who together finished 5th in Paris 2024, also won a fine silver medal. They are also the wives of Thibaut and Cyril respectively!
Antoine Pérel, supported by the Caisse d’Epargne Hauts de France, competing in the same category with Yohan Le Berre, finished in 4th position.
Gwladys Lemoussu, backed by Banque Populaire Grand Ouest, who came in 6th in Paris in the PTS5 category, became European vice-champion on the Vichy course. Finally, Mona Francis, supported by Caisse d’Epargne Bretagne Pays de Loire with a silver medal in the PTWC category, won her 5th European medal.
In the able-bodied race, Léonie Périault, the only female representative who had also competed in this summer’s Olympic Games, put up an outstanding performance. Although it looked for a while that she would win gold, this athlete supported by Banque Populaire Val de France ended up with a fine silver medal, a fine achievement for an athlete who finished 27th on the Alexandre III bridge this summer. After an outstanding summer, the triathlon community in France is entering the autumn months with the same strong momentum!
